how would i solve and plot 2y+x=6

You can't really solve that, since you have two variables. In other words, you can't get to a point where y equals something specific or x equals something specific. The best you can do at this point is to rewrite in terms of y:

2y + x = 6
2y = -x + 6
y = -x/2 + 3

As for plotting, there is a y-intercept at 3, so there's a point (0, 3). The slope for this line is -1/2, so from (0, 3), count down 1 and to the right 2 (or up 1 and to the left 2) and connect the dots. The line should slant downard.

If that doesn't make sense to you, another way to do the plot is to pick points. Pick some values for x and plug them in and find y. Then you end up with a few ordered pairs that you can plot and connect the dots to get the line.
