A hospital in Dewsbury is going to turn the beds of Muslim patients to face Mecca and staff are to be trained to help patients uphold the Islamic faith.
Now you know where your money is going, what do you think?

ok stoopid, I agree there is a chapel in every hospital, but could that have something to do with the fact this is a Christian nation.

Good morning Flower Power,
i wish some people would read the papers or listen to the news before they sit down to answer - they can look at the updates after all on-line.
This proposal is an absolute disgrace. They are asking that anyone who is a muslim and whos bed faces the wrong way has their bed physically turned around by the nursing staff 3 times a day in order for them to be able to pray to mecca.
Sorry, if Jesus Christ will accept ill people praying in whatever direction and wehther lying down, sitting up or kneeling, why would not Mohammed who is supposedly all wise and loving to his people. I'm afraid it's the PC brigade gone mad and giving into a minority yet again and i am sick to the back teeth with it!
Our under resourced hospitals - due to the massive immigrant influx - do not have the staff or the time to pander to this ridiculous request. Today i shall telephone Dewsbury hospital and ask to speak to someone on the management board to request confirmation of this and if it is true then i shall take the appropriate steps to ensure that it is stopped.
My husband was born in that hospital 54 years ago - can you imagine asking matron for something like that in those days ? If this starts in Dewsbury where will it end up ?

It isn't going to happen - the gutter press stirring things up again! Health and Safety would preclude this from ever happening anyway. Imagine an emergency where the staff's got to get a patient out quick - and there's loads of beds blocking the passageway? No chance! Most hospitals have chapels - they also have rooms set aside for different faiths.

The fact that the NHS could even be THINKING of doing something like this when they are BLEEDING cash is a bloody disgrace. They are already spending MILLIONS on translators and non-English speakers are jumping the"queue" over the indigenous population who - more than likely - have been waiting for months for their op. And in the case of A & E, waiting hours. I watched an episode of Spooks on 27 November and it gave me the heebie-jeebies. Cos if this government doesn't get a handle on Immigration - legal or otherwise - and asylum seekers, something similar is going to happen in Britain FOR REAL!

Here in Spain ,Muslims were refused the building of a huge Mosque, the authorities said this part of Spain is predominantly Catholic and it would serve no real purpose, they do however have many smaller prayer rooms which are more than adequate to serve the very small Muslim community that live in this area,no one should be denied a place of worship ,but we really do need to be sensible, personally I think this will cause too much disruption in an already overworked and underpaid health service.

Well, down south, Yorkshire puddings are a savoury batter that is cooked in the hottest oil in the oven, just as the roasted meat is taken out. They are usually cooked as individual small lumps in baking dishes, and served together with the meat and veg. Up North, a Yorkshire Pudding is a large plateful of cooked batter, served as a "container" for meat and gravy. It is very tasty, and the idea of the YP was to fill the belly, so that the partaker would not need to eat too much meat! In fact it was the traditional "filler".

I really don't see why the beds would have to be moved, there's a wee swivel type device that is used for car seat access, pull back the bed clothes, stick said swivel device under backsides and Bingo ! Bob's your uncle,i imagine either friends or family would be eager to assist in giving it a twirl, a win, win situation and easily executed.I did notice an even more ingenious solution than mine, fiendishly clever in outline, if somewhat drastic,(the compo would have been ruinous) the said poster seems to have either been reported or chickened out, pity, as it did have its appeal...... No, no joke and more fools us for letting this nonsense occur in the first place.

Why don't they have an Imam pop in instead? Kind of keep it in house for the Muslims. Nurses doing it seems like one bit of outsourcing too far.

In the 1960's they had to reposition all the urinals in a block of flats for the same reason. I jest not.

So? should they not be afforded the same care as people of any other faith? I also assume that the majority of patients are able to get out of bed so it would be for the few who cant, I dont see a problem.

Are the beds going to be diagonal to the room then, causing more crowding and less space.
This is my local hospital.

I believe it as a few years ago Muslims asked Birmingham council for cash grants so that they could convert all their toilets to face Mecca and I bet they got it .
