I'm trying to design a website with little html knowledge. I am trying to teach myself but am looking for software that will make life a little easier.

I've looked at a few different website builders but they seem pretty restrictive. Is there any software/packages etc I could buy/use that helps me writing up pages but are less restrictive than the website builders?

preferably something that helps me create things such as message boards, the ability to post ads, questions and answers etc.

For simple designing try a free wysiwyg editor such as Nvu (you can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com ) but it sounds to me like you want a CMS so look at things like Joomla or PHP Nuke. Your web host possibly offers something like Fantastico which can install these on your web space for you.

I was in the same boat as you. I was looking to design a site for myself but had no clue. I found a website management company that helped me out a lot called Mystic Liquid. They have a blog that was full of ideas and was fun to read. Here is the link http://www.MysticLiquid.com. I hope that helped.

If you're looking for a Easy-To-Use website host, then maybe you can try this one. I can tell you, this might keep you busy, and it's creatively a time to think about your site. If there's a Question about the Website-Builder, maybe you should leave me a message or look at the Information and Rules that tell you.
