I have a murray rider that wont start. I have checked the brake, pto, seat and the reverse safety switches and are good I discounnect the kill wire to the coil and it runs. I replaced the ignition switch with a replacement one from the manual. Any comments????

You can try a new solenoid and maybe it will start. Also check the starter and replace if necessary. If it still does not start check for a week battery. Sometimes a week battery will turn the motor and not enough fire to start. Could even be a dirty filter or carburetor. Really without being there to help you these are random guesses.
It seems Murrays are getting a notorious reputation for going bad. Good Luck

if you have checked all safety switches and replaced the ign switch then you have a short to ground in the wireing harness remember this ign system grounds to stop( called an open system) ps just because the ign switch is new doesnt mean its good use an ohm meter or test light and verify operation. do this to the switches also. is the replacement switch the correct one?

You say it will start if you disconnect the ignition ground wire. Now with the new switch it does the same thing? It has to be wired wrong or the ground wire is shorting somewhere.
