yes, female voices do mature - it's just not as drastic as male voices maturing. if you're 17 though, it's probably happened already. it usually happens when you go through puberty.

I think it can only help to train yourself to sound more professional. A large aspect of how people are perceived has to do with how they present themselves, not just how they actually are perceived by the human ear. I'm sure the models gracing the catwalks don't strike you as being 13 or 14, but guess what? Most are under 17! Women's voices DO mature just like men's, but not to the extent, so you may have a little more vocal chord growth to look forward to, lol. In the meantime, limit the use of "um", "like", and other teenager words, and definitely try to sound polished on the phone. Sometimes it even helps to imagine that you actually ARE someone older and more serious- like a powerful businesswoman in her corner executive office commanding the attention of the magazine editors that work for her... Also, forcing your voice to sound lower a little does stretch your range, just like professional opera singers HAVE to practice to keep their range so wide. And it doesn't sound silly the way it does when a man tries to sound like a girl, lol!

Well for some it does get a little lower or more mature, but i do know people that are friends of my grandmothers that have really high pitched voices like yours probably is. But you can to some point train your voice to sound more mature. I would start on the training now and if it changes naturally than you can stop making your voice sound deeper.

I guess they do because a 30 year old woman doesn't sound like a 3 year old girl.
I've always wondered the same thing. I hope someone has a good answer!
Also, I've noticed that when I'm talking on the phone and trying to be polite, my voice is a lot higher than how I normally talk. Maybe it's the same with you? If that's the case, just relax and try to speak normally.
Best of luck!

There is no point of maturity for a female voice like a male. Normally between the ages of 12-15 males begin to lose their squeaky baby voices and mature to deeper more masculine sounds. Women have no such luck. And hey consider yourself fortunate. I mean, do you really wanna squeak every time you say something? But there are a few tricks that may be able to help your voice sound more mellow. Rolling your tongue may sound silly but actually gives your vocal chords a work out so when you speak, you may sound less shrill. Also, before you go to bed every night, try saying this in a deeper tone of voice. But redundancy is key, the more you practice, you may be able to knock your voice down a notch. My momma madly mops messy mud. Practice it slowly until you can recite it quickly using the tone of voice that you want. So, good luck and I hope this helped.

Well, girls voices don't have such a dramatic change as guys do, and the change is small and hard to notice. Now that you are 17, your voice probably wont change very much (sorry.) And anyway, everyones voice sounds weird on the phone! Dont sweat it! But if you are really worried about it, you can try to make your voice sound more professional while on the phone.

Seriously, don't worry about it. If you smoke your voice will eventually sound like a mans. But you don't want to do that do you! Your voice will naturally deepen with age but maybe not a great deal. Your professionalism will count for more than the pitch of your voice. If you are competant then your voice doesn't matter.

I'm not shure if your voice will chang from high to low, but mine changed to almost sounding like a man, at least on the phone. In person I've been told by men, that I have a sexy voice! So, it might change or you'll need to practice with voice lessons. But, I' shure those who care about you would'nt want your voice anyother way, because that's how they know you!

Im 16 and my voice is squeeky and high but when I asked my doctor when it would change he said around 18 or 19 so dont worry it will change, also if you want to try to train your voice get a recorder and record you self speaking like you always do, then dry to make it sound deeper and record it until you like it! then just practice it over and over again. hope this helps

Mostly the female voice is dependent on the kinds of things that you went through as a child...you should be able to make yourself sound professional
