If you like traditional names and this particular combo is very meaningful, there's no point in questioning it. ;) It's a perfectly classic, solid choice.
You could always consider some less-common nicknames in case he ever wants such an option (beyond the usual Mike, Mikey or Mickey, of course).
Miles and Milo, for example, are often considered to stem from Michael. Or he could even use something like Max from the Michael Alexander combo. You get the idea. Uniqueness doesn't have to be built into the name itself, after all, and really, when the choice is already a meaningful one, there's no need for it to be. ;) Hope that helps.

I love it! What is wrong with having a traditional name? Give me a traditional name any day over a "unique" name that is spelled strangely and hard to pronounce!
