I'm interested in writing a book and hoping at a later date that it could possibly be published. I was wondering how i would go about finding out how you even go about writing a book, how i would start off in the book and how to get ideas etc?? if someone could help me on how i could go about this i would appreciate it. Or whether i should just look at a good novel and see how the author of it has written theirs?? Im wanting to call it "where the hell are you, father? its about my own personal experience about my dad that isn't in my life and isn't a father to me, so i'm basically wanting to write about my own experience with that and about fathers that aren't fathers to their kids cause they choose not to be and that basically regardless of the situation with relationships, a father should always be a father to their child. Anyway you get my drift, i just dont know how i could get ideas on how to start and go about this. Would i have to go back so many years to when i actually felt

You should start by getting yourself a black and white marble notebook and filling it with your thoughts. Then wait a while before you read it again. Lots of people have lousy fathers (I raised my son alone) and maybe once you have written all this down and look at it later on, you may have tempered your feelings. Not every rant about a crummy father is interesting to read. Quite honestly, books about lousy parents are a dime a dozen. Start with Mommie Dearest and go forward. You may just need to exorcise your demons. Wait a couple months before you read the notes. Then cross out anything you choose not to use and then organize your thoughts into an outline. From there, you can begin writing.

Careful or you may wind up in my next novel.

You could start out with when he's leaving. Make yourself shout, "Daddy, where are you going?!" and run after the car. He could say, "Out. I'll be back soon." Then:
"I waited. For years. He never came back."
Then, put in things that happened to you, how it affected you that there was no father in your life.

I really hope this helped. I hope to read your story when it gets published.
Good Luck!!

Start by brainstorming and writing down all your ideas....

Then take all the ideas and begin grouping them in categories and then sub-categories...

Once you do this you can begin an outline for each category/sub-category....

Then start writing and see what happens!

Remember the full effect will be apparent once you edit your 1st draft and start seeing things come together.
