well im pretty sure the "record" isnt 12 days its much longer. I 17 too and not to long back i stayed up for a long time. The first night i went through i was tired and then after about 24 hours i became really zoned out but after that i didnt want to sleep anymore. I tried to go to bed but i couldnt it was the weirdest thing. Around 36 hours things got really really weird, I started hearing things and I would completly forget what I was doign and where I was. I made it to like 4 days but I cant really remember the last part well, everything just sort of blends together and you cant tell how much time has passed. It was a pretty fun experience, but do it when you have alot of free time on your hands where you dont have to drive anywhere or work.

As far as I know the set world record is 11 days before they were hospitalized. At 17 you could probably pull it off, but the peak time for this would probably be 19-21.
You will start to hallucinate, will experience muscle weakness, headaches, dizziness, nausea, soreness, and possible cramps and nosebleeds. There are more symptoms, I'm certain, but I'm tired myself.
Also I don't recommend using anything stronger than caffeine, ice, and light to help you stay awake, because it could disqualify you.
Please, if you do try have a medic at the ready and tell your friends and family you're attempting it. Don't drive, take a couple weeks off work, and don't take the stay-awake pills. Be safe, this could put you in a hospital or kill you.
Hope that helps.

sleep depravation can KILL
You will loose co-ordination on fine motorskills
Then simplar tasks will get harder
You many appear drunk, unable to walk or talk
You will have to eat a lot - more than normal
This will give you energy, not for staying awake
So if this experiment doesn't kill you
Your body could shut down, sending you into a DEEP SLEEP, almost a coma, if not a coma for over a week
If you are going to do this, have about a dozen friends to look after you. You can not be alone at any time, yes that includes bathroom visits, (This is dangerous)

Also a nurse or a doctor would help. Plus a few people with cars to get you to hospital quick.

Yes, the record is eleven days from a graduate student who was trying to finish a report. However, by the end of his eleven days he was delirious and hallucinating until he finally passed out from exhaustion.
I don't recommend this, unless you have a really high fatigue level. In that case... buy lots of Monster (best energy drink ever).
But there are other much more fun records to break. Like... longest time to go without... showering? Although you may have already ruined your chances for that one; one of the early queens of England bragged about only bathing twice, once when she was born and once when she was married.
Good luck! Have fun! Get jacked up!

After 5 days you will start to hallucinate, not a good thing to do.
Good luck if you do break the record, just be very careful.
Long periods like that without sleep can be very dangerous.

try 24 or 48 hrs first, you'll know how you feel. Then you can focus on forgetting 12 days. That's crazy!
