St Hell, that was beautifully stated. Kudos to you.

I'm not a Christian, and certainly not a fan of the fundamentalists who slink in here to screech "Sin! Sin!" at the top of their lungs...

...but the passage you quote - "To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under Heaven." is graceful in its simplicity and truth. We live in accordance with the seasons of human existence...whether we want to or not (lol!). And the truth expressed in those lines is universal.

But the season of tolerance is of our own, human making. We make the choice to either be tolerant...or corrupted. So "the season of gay rights/equality"...is whenever we say it is.

I say it's NOW.

No, in spite of the undeniable fact that, it nevertheless is definite for people are mortal. considering the fact which you quote Ecclesiastes, there is that this: (Ecclesiastes 9:11) 11 I lower back to work out below the solar that the fast have not got the race, nor the stable ones the conflict, nor do the clever even have the nutrition, nor do the expertise ones even have the riches, nor do even those having information have the choose; by means of fact time and unexpected prevalence befall all of them. this could want that might assist you spot that random prevalence, no longer something predetermined could govern our deaths. If a individual eats nutrition that's extremely risky, smokes and abuses stable drink - one can think of that his twin who eats healthful nutrition and does not smoke or misuse stable drink lives longer! Why could their time of demise be controlled from above different than that as people they finally ought to die.

At its most cynical, the Bible is a tool for controlling people. It actively discourages free thought by presenting absolute, authoritative "Truth" that should not be questioned - it is "The Word of God". Once people believe the Bible is truth, you can pick a part of it to support any argument you care to present - all backed up by the word of God, so it must be right since God is infallible.
The passages that refer to everything having a season do not mention homosexuality. As I understand it, the only explicit references to homosexuality in the Bible are unequivocally negative and advocate putting us to death.

Yes, there is a time and a season for gays to stand up and fight for their rights. The bible never said everything will be given to you on a silver platter.

According to the bible, homosexuals should be killed. It depends on what PART of the bible you read. That's WHY I'm an atheist. It contradicts itself all the way through. The fundies only use the part that suits them.

Can you tell me the exact scripture that's from? Or did you just hear somebody say that so you assume it's a real scripture. Do your own research.

It has already happened, when Jesus proclaimed the Good News that the Reign of God was at hand. He set captives free, including those enslaved by sin.
