What if the president of the united states and all congress members had to fight along side our troops in every war we have?

That would be great provided the leaders of all other countries played by the same rules. Any thoughts on convincing them?

We wouldn't fight any wars.
However, sending Congress to war is ridiculous, but not the President. He is the Commander in Chief and should be with the soldiers on the battlefield.
King George of Britian showed up on the Normandy beach shortly after the June 6, 1943 invasion. He didn't have an entourage, armored limosine, or a huge protection detail and rode in a jeep (with no top) onto the beach.
Too bad the President doesn't have those kinds of balls.

They would know how we feel. The president has no respect for our troops, I really wish he would realize that this war isn't doing much good. If he spent a couple days doing that, everyone would have respect for him. Bush has lost respect from almost everyone, I can't stand him. I don't know why people stand up for him, there is not point.

Providing security for the President would take priority, and we wouldn't be able to fight as a result.

Leadership is the ability to con some poor sucker into sacrificing his life to advance your agenda. This is not unique to America.
In the past, many volunteered to fight in Southeast Asia to "make the world safe from communism". Lately they are signing up to "fight them over there, so we don't have to fight them here".
Those that are fighting us over there are told that it will get them into heaven.
Many Germans were conned into fighting to save the Fatherland from the Jewish/Marxist threat.
The Japanese were told that their Emperor was God.
etc.
