what would the pressure be like? and would this affect everything that was normally above sea level?? for example..if you were to stand at the bottom of the deepest part of the now empty ocean would there be more pressure / less / none? just curious :D

Well, first of all, if there was no water in the oceans, we'd have waaaaay more problems than just pressure issues...since almost all life except for maybe a few species of bacteria would be dead...and it would have a ton of effects on the atmosphere too.

But if there was no water at the bottom of the ocean, the pressure would be lower than if there was water there--the pressure is very very high at the bottom of the ocean (there's so much water sitting on top of it, pushing it down). Without the water there, it would be at atmospheric pressure, which is much less than the pressure of the deep ocean. Though it would probably be at a higher pressure than at sea level, since there's lots of air pushing down on it.

So that's just a simplified guess...it might not be right, of course, but it might be of some use to you. :)

If all the water was gone and not replaced by anything, the pressure would fall considerably but be much higher at the deepest spots than at current sea level.

If all the water would be found in the atmosphere... we would have conditions similar to Venus.

More or less than what? More or less than if the water were still there or more or less than from the normal surface of the earth?
