If you have an over the stove vent check your filter - the mesh is easy to clean with regular dish washing liquid; soak it in hot water. The oil gets trapped in their and heat brings it back to life. If you don't have one check between your stove and counter - that old oil can be hiding inbetween just waiting to greet you.

Clean the walls and floor. If it is a heavy cooking oil then i would recommend TSP. Make sure that you rince this off as well. If you use it on the walls you will be dulling it for repaint. But i have found that it is a great cleaner as well. Cabinets will need to be refreshed with an light oil like old english. Of course it you have tiled floors do not use this method.

you should maybe light a match. that always helps in my house. or you can sprinkle lemmon juice on waterver smells. If you have an air filter you can buy special stickers you can put on the filter that will make you house smell yummy. you can also repaint the walls and that will get the smell out. lastly you can just spray febreeze!
