the Age old profession
Age old answer, if you teach the girl she is worth more than just her body, there would be no prostitution
It would be a job, like a sexual therapy and those who would do it would do it through choice and get training on the physiological side to help their clients
As it stands, with pimps, drugs and the fact it is illegal, it is just a vice like drugs or anything illegal and the girls (99%) are being exploited
And yes, Pretty Woman is the 1% that do it and get through it

Prostitutes don't sell their bodies, they just rent them for a period of time. Prostitution would be a good thing if it were legal and the participants were regularly medically checked. They would serve as an outlet for men (and women) who did not have a regular sexual partner. Just like any other professional person, they have a product to sell and there are buyers available. No reason it could not be a respectable profession, after all they are not doing anything a "respectable" married woman does and sometimes not even with more men.

Honestly, myself like many others have mixed feelings, who are we to judge what people do with their own bodies, as long as they are not hurting others.
It is a myth that all prostitutes stan on corners and spread disease, There are many well educated proffesional people who do it as a second job, Who am I to decide what is right or wrong with a person trying to feed their family or pay for their education or for that matter just enjoy what they do.
Is the woman who marries because the man is a good provider considered wrong?
It is much more honest to say this is going to cost this much than to say I do because the guy has a nice bank account.
We don't know what drives anyone to do what they do, but until you walk in their shoes it is wrong to judge.
personally I would not entertain the thought of going to a prostitute but there are others who do,
The bottom line is they provide a service and there is a demand for that service. We live in a world of supply and demand.
We can sell ciggarettes and alcohol but a woman can't sell her body, but I have never heard of anyone overdosing on sex.
yet ciggs and alcohol kill thousands everyday.

I don't understand what drives them to want to have that kind of life. I mean really, how could any woman live with herself after having sex with just ANY man who pays her?
And what kind of a life does a prostitute have when she's not "working"? What does she do to pass the time? Does she behave as if her life is fine and dandy?
I totally don't understand it.

It's tragic. Women who do this usually do it because they need money badly and have no other saleable skills. They despise the men they service and often dislike sex. Many prostitutes are intelligent women who got into it and couldn't get out. There are many factors: debt, drug addiction (often fomented by their pimp), emotional instability preyed on by the pimp or madam, etc.

It depends on what they are charging and how they manipulate you into paying for it. Sometimes the line that separates prostitution from gold-digging is a bit fuzzy - or the line that separates dinner and a movie from a gift certificate.

Not my business.
The concept is one thing, but the "type" of women who actually are in the "profession" is something completely different.
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it.

It is wrong. No woman sould do that to herself or any man. It is a sin to have sex before marrige and it is wrong to lust, even if you are not have sex, a stripper is still causeing her/his 'brother' to stumble by showing themselfs in a way that puts thoughts of lust into someones head. But in the end it is still every womans choice to do that if she wishes and every mans to go and lust or have sex with a woman. This is not to menchen all the health risks a prostitute would be seseptable to.
I hope this helps. TTFN

If they are doing it of their own free will and have not been pressured into sexual slavery, then I can't see how anyone can dictate to them what they can or cannot do with their own bodies.

Meh, it's their choice. As long as they use protection and/or any children produced are well-looked after, I couldn't care less.
