Yes and no.
Yes. Because, if you leave a child or pet in your car.. the Greenhouse effect that takes place as the Sun's rays/heat are captured in the auto (increasing the temperature, greatly and quickly without airflow or heat escaping) can cause them to suffocate.. this uses the science of how gases were caught and are caught in our atmosphere. Over time, the levels of gases, layers and the air we breathe developed..
Yes. Because so many people are "selling" us, who since -- are open to concepts like Conservation, humans destroying environments/ecosystems and Fumes from cars, etc... -- they are CREATING a non-issue that they are Fighting for something, and against a faceless evil... HOWEVER, the harm is... quick, tell me if Al Gore has ever spoken about how Benzene fumes from oil refineries CAUSE CANCER right now, last week, 15 years ago and 30 years ago when he started making a name for himself (and did nothing, but talk...). It's pollution and it's affect on people, and the fact that there's 0 being done RIGHT NOW, say.. as plumes of chemicals are let loose (no one sees it, at night) and wafts over NYC's/Staten Island.. causing everything from asthma to cystic fibrosis in Children, much less cancer... and what?
And No. Because... today, the media and anyone wanting to sound like they're 'a protester' or for "the Earth" uses this theory & repeats anything they BELIEVE to be true - like the throngs in George Orwell's 1984. Global Warming is now a cult, more than a factual understanding that humans have a spec of affect on Earth's weather -- if anything... BUT, there's huge public FUNDING in it, if you can twist enough, and scare enough people. The Mantra is that the End Is Near, now that George Bush is president, etc. etc. (this of course, wasn't the case when Clinton/Gore were in the White House and in fact, those 8 years were given precisely 2-seconds time in the movie "Inconvenient Truth"). In fact the Kyoto Agreement happened 4 calendar years before the end of their terms in office -- while USA Federal miles per gallon standards were eliminated, and Americans were made to be able to drive the worst gas-guzzling vehicles EVER on USA roads, without a truck license (the mega SUVs like the Yukon, Suburban and Expedition).
If you want to believe that carbon dioxide (CO2) has something more to do with the Earth warming -- then of course, you'd have to see that 97% of it is caused by natural carbons burning by WILDFIRES and VOLCANO (happening right now). The calamatists calling themselves climatoligists or whatever -- in the name of Greenhouse Gases vs. Big Oil or whoever the Villian Du Jour... never, ever talk about the facts of magnetism, polarity, the Earth's wobbles on its axis, and plate tectonics being a significant factor on weather... for millions upon millions of years. Instead, they think CO2 rules currents, hurricanes, small spikes in temperature and that becomes a 1-fit, for all ANSWER that suits the flimsy argument.. that the Sky is Falling.
PS - Forget that the Earth was a swampy, intensely heated place for 400-600 million years that dinosaurs etc. roamed the planet.. and far warmer than now... it's not really about science afterall, it's about publicity and trying to gain funding and money for another Industry.

Sorry, I got a little windy about this subject. Maybe because I'm running out of room for planting trees.
What is the best source of scientific information on global warming?
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science/global-warming-faq.html
The Big List of Tree Facts!
http://www.treefolks.org/store_biglist.asp
This list below is a major problem that humans and animals contribute more to the effect than most people realize. We all need to learn how to control some of these effects by doing our part no matter how small.
Open the link and read the cause and why they are harmful.
http://www.umich.edu/~gs265/society/greenhouse.htm
Methane gas
Nitrous Oxide
Fluorocarbons
Refrigerators and Air Conditioners using CFC's were a huge problem for the ozone layer, but now HFC's are a problem for the climate.
REDUCE YOUR IMPACT ON THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT
Excert from article of link below;
From plankton to penguins to polar bears, the greenhouse effect is harming our animals by forever changing their natural habitats. A recent sobering study says that scientists are now predicting that a quarter of the world's animal and plant life would face extinction by 2050 due to climate change.
Arctic, global warming is already responsible for the loss of sea ice
affecting the health of polar bears and reducing their population.

JUST A NOTE about what's happening
most people are not aware that humans are not the only creatures that are affected by UV rays. Most if not all animals and fish can become sunburned. I have a garden pond and it has no trees around it so I put up a awning like in a nursery to reduce the UV's on the koi and goldfish.
Australia is thinking of using the same material to protect the great Barrier Reef.
Minister suggests 'shade cloth' to protect Great Barrier Reef
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200611/s1779627.htm
Below is what it looks like it comes in different degrees of protection.
http://www.gemplers.com/search/shade%20cloth
The truth of the matter GHE is harming the entire planet in every imaginable way and I personally think
every house should have to plant trees and stick up shade cloth to reduce the effects of the UV's and the gases.
Just a theory.

Basically and simply put, the Greenhouse Effect is nothing but CO2 rising into the atmosphere and destroying the ozone layer. Which, in turn, is letting the solar rays enter Earth's atmosphere directly, causing temperatures to rise rapidly.

the greenhouse effect releases CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) into the air, which in turn, destroys the ozone layer.
