All of the above are the ingredients for most all family legacies. Unfortunately it is a part of life and people no matter how hard we try to keep it out, it somehow inches it's way in to make or break families.

I've seen hatred passed down through the generations, I don't know about envy, neglect and anger.

In the strictest terms of the word, anything left behind that contributes fundamentally to the fabric of life for a family (or group of concern) constitutes a "legacy", but we generally prefer to mentally discard things that are negative in nature. But your question insightfully reminds us that negativity can also be a part of our legacy too if we are not careful to guard against it.

Unfortunately yes. And Im speaking from personal experience. In the past 5 years my family went from a close family full of much love & close friendship. Envy came over a cousin....which caused her mother to have hatred towards her brother....which caused him to feel distant from his nieces & nephews....5 years later & we dont talk to them at all. Very sad when I think back on how much love their "once" was....And how sad that it was so quick to disspear with "envy"....Jealousy is a nasty emotion that ususally turns to hatred. IMO
