NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Marlins and Tigers are on the verge of completing a blockbuster deal that will send Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to Detroit for a package of six players.
A source familiar with the negotiations has told MLB.com that the Tigers are parting with outfielder Cameron Maybin and lefty starter Andrew Miller and four prospects for the final two players from the Marlins' 2003 World Series championship squad.

I just got home from work, and I saw that.

Wow! This could be the blockbuster deal of the year, by far.

I am not going to believe until I actually see it happen.
For one, Dombrowski has said many many times that Maybin was UNTOUCHABLE!
But for Willis Can cabera He might have too.

I also wonder what MY Tigers will do with Brandon Inge?

I guess Dombrowski wants to WIN NOW!

and, by golly, if this happens they will!

I can't see any other deal being more significant than this one. Detroit immediately becomes a big favorite to win it all in 2008. There is also a big possibility that another trade will occur for the Tigers as where would Brandon Inge fit in? I think that with the scarcity of 3B, he will become a good trading chip and bring even more to Detroit. Watch out for Florida in a couple years though, they got a lot of young talent in return.

This could be devastating to the AL Central. Dontrelle Willis still has some gas left and coming to the AL may be what he needed. Cabrera was probably the second most sought after free agent the offseason. He has power, speed, and a good glove. Bravo, Mr. TigerGM!!

It's a big deal for Detroit.

If Miguel Cabrera could converge with Magglio Ordonez and a healthy Gary Sheffield, they'd make the most fiercest middle of the order seen in the last 70 years! I'm in Narragansett, Rhode Island, at my computer right now, and my fingers are frozen just thinking about it!

Ahhh! MY NIPPLES ARE FROZEN!
{Close Window. Put on Yankees Sweater and turn up heat. Turn up hot stove and roast some Minestrone Soup.}

Whoa! Now that's better. Remember that this whole answer is only a prediction. Tigers fans, you can only predict a World Series for so long(Believe me I know).

{Pat NY on sweater}

This deal doesn't make them World Series champions yet. The Beckett deal didn't make the Red Sox instant champions.

Memo to self: Put Johan Santana on my list to Santa.

tigers are going to run away with the AL central. aside from the obvious dominance the tigers are going to have now, i gotta say i love the addition of cameron maybin for the marlins. i'm definitely going to be drafting maybin in fantasy baseball next year. marlins are very close to ending their rebuilding phase and in a few years they will be contendors again.

It is huge for the Tigers and I believe it would give them the inside track to the best team in the AL. That could reverse back to the Red Sox if they get Santana.

It does not show me that they win the Central, or as some say-run away with it. Dontrelle Willis won't match up with Sabathia or Carmona is the Central-edge Cleveland. Yeah Cabrera will hit you some HR-still Indians have young guys who get better every year-Sizemore-Hafner-Martinez-Peralta, advanatge Cleveland. Big deal-I don't think the American Leage feels that threatened.
