I've always associated New Order's Ceremony with my sister because it was her ringtone.
And I always associated Captain Beefheart with my old technology teacher because after class when I had to stay back to finish projects, he would always play Captain Beefheart (and Bob Dylan and Billie Holiday)

You?

I have a bunch of tunes that I associate with my wife.
Signed Sealed Delivered - Stevie Wonder
The Night Time Is The Right Time - Ray Charles
Here There and Everywhere - Beatles
plus plenty more, but those particular ones are wrapped up in our wedding... Our original song, but it's too fast and I can't dance. The song we used for our first dance because it's slower and I can't dance. And she walked down the isle to an instrumental version of the Beatles tune.

Riverbottom Nightmare Band - Riverbottom Nightmare Band
reminds me of my sister because she LOVES Emmitt Otter

Thunder Road - my mom. Unfortunately this is because she has made it incredibly clear that she wants this song played at her funeral.

I also think of my brother when I hear Minor Threat and my other sister when I hear the Selecter because they first exposed me to that stuff.

I always associate Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer" with my mom (and dad), the first time she ever heard that song it reminded her of her relationship with my father. It made her cry (in a good way). So now I think of her and my father whenever I listen to it.
The song "Sabor A Mi" (performed by many different artists) reminds me of my husband. I requested that song and dedicated it to him at a party where there was a mariachi band performing.
And the song "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths always reminds me of a very close friend from work. She had never heard the song before, but one day at work she actually said "I never want to go home because I havent got one anymore".

Less see....

Genesis - The Carpet Crawlers. This song will always remind me of my best friend Mike, a huge Genesis fan growing up. He would always play "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" when I was hanging out.

Live - Operation Spirit. My first 'real' girlfriend used to love "Mental Jewelry". This song still reminds me of her.

Busta Rhymes - Gimme Some Mo'. Yeah..strange choice here... but I have a friend who's a hard core classic rocker but LOVED this song. We would have parties at our apartment and he would break out the Busta and rap along with it. I'll call him sometimes and just start the conversation by busting out a few lines...

Pearl Jam - Low Light. This song reminds me of my ex of six years. We saw PJ together some 12 times and every time she hoped to hear this live. Finally, in Boston, they played it and she wept like a baby.

"Lazy Eye" by Silversun Pickups reminds me of a friend that I got really close with last Spring, and he burned me a copy of the CD. Every time I listen to the slow version I think about us just driving around town for no apparent reason trying to get lost.
Then "Tool Sheds and Hot Tubs" by Straylight Run reminds me of all the times I used to sneak out of my house at night to go to parties or just goof off. I would just play that song and keep it on repeat until I came back. Even though it was a long time ago, I still remember how I thought that if I kept the song playing that it would protect me. Very odd.

One Friend Led Zep because he knew everything to knew about them.

His younger brother Nirvana, imagine a 15 year old kid spreading his hand out on the fret board just like Kurt and playing those songs. He did it.

Another friend, Magnetic Fields and Flaming Lips, not everyone "gets" these bands. When we listened to this music we would say nothing but smile at each other like we were in a secret society or something.

My Dad - Kingston Trio - I did not think much of this group until I found out they were a major influence on the late 50's.

My mother - Wings at the Speed of Sound. She liked Paul McCartney.

I associate music in general with my dad. Tom Petty's Breakdown (there is a video of me and him singing this song while he plays the guitar), Neil Young's Sugar Mountain (there are lyrics from this song in a card he made me), Led Zeppelin's The Ocean (he use to write me letters and with the letters he would draw pictures...a quote from this song is a caption to one of the pictures) and so on and so on. But the band I associate with him most, I guess, would be the Rolling Stones. I think I know Mick's voice better than I do my own...

Yes - I had an ex-boyfriend tell me that he always thought of me when he heard Pearl Jam's "Black". The weird part is I have songs that I associate with ex-boyfriends (including him) that I can listen to now with no problem, but for some reason I have trouble listening to the one he associates with me - I can't remember the last time I listened to "Black" all the way through. Hmmm...

This is soooooo not rock'n'roll, but I associate "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith with my wife because it was our wedding dance. There's also "St. Patrick's Day" by John Waite. The story in the song is almost a perfect metaphor for our relationship, and then we were married on St. Patrick's Day.

NP: "Strange" - Poets & Pornstars

My Mama- Genesis the album Wind and Wuthering. I remember as a teenager it was the only album she could stand, She is an opera singer and hates rock and anything not classical

My Dad- Liberace singing "I'll be seeing you" This makes me sad and happy at the same time. My Dad fought in the 2nd world war and he told me all about this song. Now he is gone, I remember him dearly. it is such a beautiful song with a profound meaning and Liberace sings from the heart...

My hubby.... Santana-Moonflower, Gato Barbieri-She's Michelle and George Michael-Kissing a fool...... for all the romantic reasons possible........... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

My Kids:
Kid 1 Rammstein-Mein Herz brennt, we both sing it in German and looooove it.

Kid 2- Gary Moore-Still in love with you. She is his number one fan and melts when she hears him play....

Kid 3- John Williams Movie scores and Metallica-Wherever I may roam. She is only 11 and has this profound understanding of metal. Amazing for a girl her age, all her friends in school like Pop and such.

The songs:

You're My Home
To Make You Feel My Love
All About Soul
Allentown
The Longest Time
Honesty
Sometimes A Fantasy

by Mr. William Joel all make me think of my fiance who I can't be with right now as she is out on the sea. Especially the first one as we have been traveling folk for a long time now.
