I would subtract 3x from both sides:
y = -3x + 6

Now this is in slope-intercept form.

The slope is -3 and the y-intercept is 6.

Put a point at (0,6) and then go down in slope by -3. Other points would be (1,3) (2,0), (3, -3), etc.

O.K. How I think I may understand this but how I do it may be different from the way you do it, but good luck anyway. First, you have to put it in Y=MX+B form. So, you have 3x+y=6 so you want Y to equal something not 6 therefor you want Y on one side of the equation. To do this you have to subtract 3X from both sides or adding negative 3x, which is the same thing. That crosses out the 3x giving you Y= -3x+6= Y but you can just move the Y to the other side giving you Y= -3x+6. Then you have to pick any numbers to represent your X. So, lets pick 1,2,3.

X | -3x+6 | Y

1 | -3(1)+6 | 3
2 | -3(2)+6 | 0
3 | -3(3)+6 | -3

(sorry all the numbers are squished together, the computer just does that automatically. The lines are just there to show you that they are separate numbers since they are all close together and you might get confuses) All I did in that little chart was pick an X and plug it into my x in the equation I got which gives me my Y. Then you have three coordinates; (1,3) (2,0) (3, -3) Then just plot them and draw a line through it and the line would be negative by the way, so its going down. I hope I helped you! Again, this is how I would do it. :) I am in 7th grade gifted and I am currently taking Honors which is a high school credited science and math class so i am really taking a 9th grade math and science class, and I have a perfect A+ plus in math :)

Rearrange the equation to define y in terms of x. That is, the equation starts out "y = "
3x+ y= 6 rearranges to
y = 6 - 3x

Make a 2-column table with "x" at the top of the first column and "y=6-3x" at the top of the second.

Now you fill in the table with x and y values. Choose a value for x (I usually start with x=0) and calculate the corresponding y value. In this case, x=0  ⇒  y=6-3x=6. Enter 0 and 6 in the table.

Every data pair becomes an (x,y) point on the graph.

I am going to try to explain this very well because I used to have huge problems with math( it got to the point that i was in tears)- It does get easier!

Like everyone else said put it into y = mx + b form
y = 3x + 6
The number next to the x is the slope(thats m) also known as rise over run
The 6 is the y intercept (thats b)

So first you want to find 6 on the y axis and put a dot there on your graphpaper.
Now the slope is 3.
If you put that into fraction form you get 3/1
I think of it as the 3 is up over the 1 so you go up 3 and over 1
This just means go up 3 boxes and over 1 box and put a dot there.
Now you can graph with a nice, straight line!

Change the formula so it works to plot. You generally need a Y= blah formula in order to plot it right? so lets rearrange. Y=6-3X. Or you can write it Y=-3X+6. That fits a bit better with the Y=mX+b formula. Good luck

you need to put it in y=mx+b form
so it would be
y= -3x+ 6 (the 3 is negative because you moved it over)
Now find 6 on the 6 line and plot it. From that point go down 3 over one to the right. Continue doing this from each point. Then draw your line

put it into y equation form and it becomes
y=6-3x
6= y-intercept
slope= -3x

Or just use a graphing calculator, go to 2nd Calc and plot the function.

first, put it in slope-intercept form. which would be y=-3x+6.
the y intercept is 6. so plot a point there.
and the slope is -3 so count down three and 1 to the right. plot a point and draw your line.

hope i helped.

you would put the 3x onto the other side of the equation.

3x + y = 6
y = -3x + 6

3x+y=6 k first put it in y=mx+b form
-3x -3x
y= -3x+6
so then b=6 and b is the y intercept so put y on the line plotting (0,6)
and then from there go up 3 or -3
and right -1 or 1
hope this helps
