Respiratory depression due to an overdose on sizzurp, a popular drink mixing codeine cough syrup and promethazine, mixing with his sleep apnea. Moe died of a heart attack, possibly due to codeine as well. Also, we know of Pimp C more of his affiliation with Bun B, in the hip hop group UGK.

Here is the latest info that has been released

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Coroner's office said Wednesday that it would take more than a month to determine the cause of death for rapper Pimp C, the influential hip-hop figure who was found dead Tuesday at an upscale hotel on the Sunset Strip.

A medical examination is scheduled for Thursday, and Capt. Ed Winter of the coroner's office said the toxicology test won't be back for at least six weeks.

"It appears that he died naturally," he said. "There were no signs of trauma, no signs of drug paraphernalia."

Winter added that there were no signs of foul play.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responding to a 911 call found the 33-year-old native of Port Arthur lying on his bed at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood.

An investigation is pending.

Pimp C, whose real name was Chad Butler, was a member of the Texas hip-hop duo UGK, which scored a No. 1 album earlier this year.

UGK's seventh album, Underground Kingz, reached No. 1 on the national album chart in August, but mainstream stardom eluded Butler and his partner, Bun B, for most of the group's 15-year career.

'Terrible shock,' mother says

Also, Pimp C's mother, Weslyn "Mama Wes" Monroe, told Beaumont's KFDM television: "C's business manager found his body in his hotel room in Los Angeles and we know he died in his sleep. Past that, we don't know anything."

"This is a terrible shock," added Monroe. "Mama is just a little tougher than most, but I break too."

Pimp's mom said she has received tremendous support from family, friends, artists and other entertainers. "The phone won't stop ringing. It feels good, if anything can feel good now," she explained, remembering how much Pimp C loved the Port Arthur community: "He loved PA. ... Even when he came home he chose to live here. And to be honest, I wasn't sure of it. But he was. This was his choice."

Lil' Flip recalls Pimp C's influence

In an interview Wednesday with The Associated Press, Rapper Lil' Flip, who opened some shows for UGK when he was still in high school, said he got a lot of advice about the music industry and life in general from Pimp C, including to always look his best.

"He influenced me to be fly at all times,'' Lil' Flip said of Pimp C, who was known for his flamboyant rap persona where he often wore fur coats and was dripping with diamonds. "He said 'Flip, don't go out with dirty nails and a microphone. You've got to be fly if you want to get that money.' "

When Flip, who has two platinum albums, learned of Pimp C's death on Tuesday, the only thing he could think to do was to hit the studio and record a tribute. That offering, which can be heard on his MySpace page, samples some of Pimp C's most recognizable lyrics and thanks him for appearing in some of Flip's videos.

The loss of Pimp C will leave a void in the local rap scene and the remaining rappers should put aside their differences and work together, Flip said. He remembered Pimp C's fierce loyalty to the region and its music and was amazed at how he would take on anyone who tried to criticize it.

"He would do anything to represent the South,'' Flip said. ``He would battle a million people just to protect the South and our music.''

Oscar Butao of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said homicide detectives were sent to the hotel in the 8400 block of West Sunset Boulevard about 9:20 a.m. to investigate a man's death. He could not confirm the man's identity, but Butler's record label did.

IF THEY COULDNT CONFIRM IDENTITY SOUNDS LIKE MORE THEN OVERDOSE TO ME.

I'm thinking it was a drug overdose as well. Rumors have been said that he was into drinking syrup and way too much of it. Sad to say for such a successful man... Hopefully his death will rise a wakeup call to those similar, Boosie and Lil Wayne.

They are saying natural causes, but he is only 33. They will probably know once an autopsy is performed. A lot of entertainers use drugs but we won't know for sure until the details are reported.
