o.k. I have a 2004 chevy avalanche z71, and the transmission has messed up. It has never slipped or made any noises. But then friday It just went out! I was pulling out on the road and It didn't want to get out of first, It was red lineing and It snatched 2nd and it won't go in any other gear. I wasen't doging it or anything. And its still the same way now. Its at a shop now but they really don't know whats wrong with it either. I checked the tow button It wasen't on either and its not in 4 wheel drive. Does anybody know?

We had a GMC that would red line, had the tranny rebuilt, got it back and it did the same thing. Tell them to look at the switch on the side of the transmission. They replaced the switch and it worked just fine.

Heres a thought maybe when you're watching the tack go past 4,000 rpms maybe you should let off that's an indication something is wrong now since you red lined it you probably screwed up more then just the tranny.

automatic or manual . If manual , it may be a synchronizer gear
