the studios aren't interested in story anymore, they're interested in entertainment products they can brand, package, and sell globally. movies suck nowadays not because hollywood writers are stupid, but because they can only get certain types of movies made, and those are the only ones you're seeing and will ever see as long as the studios are controlled by media giants. even scripts with the potential to be good movies are turned into rubbish by the time they hit the screen because the studios homogenize everything for mass appeal and hire cheap, inexperienced directors so they won't have to share backend profits. then, just to piss you off even more they--
i'm sorry, what was the question...?

The first thing is I think studios need to stop showing the entire movie in the trailer (preview). The trailers should do nothing more than set up the story, they should not tell you everything. One thing I find especially annoying is when you watch the trailer after seeing the movie and realize there are bits of the very last scenes in the trailer - and this happens more often than people think.
I also wish film makers would be more willing to take chances and not go with the Hollywood endings. I find that some of my favorite movies are those that don't wrap everything up in a nice little package with a happy ending for a bow. Film makers should be willing to end a movie questions unanswered or on a sad note.
I get tired of gimmick shots. After the Matrix, how many movies did we see using the same type of camera work. Yeah, it was cool at first, but it was annoying after a while - same with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Quit reusing songs so much. I can't count the number of times I've heard the Pussycat Dolls song "Don't Cha" used in movies over the last 2 years.
Finally, they should put more effort into writing the scripts. Sure movies like Epic Movie can make a solid return for a small cost. But why do you think movies like Superbad and The 40 Year-Old Virgin do so much better. It's because they have good writing rather than just throwing out any sight gag and innuendo that might get a laugh.

1. ORIGINALITY - show us something new. It seems like the same storyline is being told over and over and over again. I loved the first Matrix, but look how much it has been copied. They also do this by making too darn many sequels, like Saw. Saw 4 was the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen. It's like beating a dead horse. I love original, fresh ideas. Suprise me! Shock me! Scare me! I end up watching movies and just picking apart the different movies they have copied.
2. It drives me crazy that in a lot of movies that have a mostly black cast, you will surely see the same cast in the next movie with a black cast. Surely there are more black actors/actresses out there that could cast. If I see one more movie where Meagan Good plays the girlfriend, I am going to puke. (Stomp the Yard, Waist Deep, Roll Bounce, just to name a few) Surely they can find another black actress that could be the girlfriend. I think doing this is very stereotypical.
3. I am sick and tired of books being turned into movies which do not resemble the book in any way. Why would you name a movie the same title as the book when the two are completely different?
I could go on and on, but I will stop at 3. Good question, though.

Well, for starters, how about we try keeping the majority of the good parts of the movie OUT of the trailer! I mean, they show you the best parts of the frickin' movie and then you get there and actually see it and you're like "what is this crap?". Two, make the plot a surprising. Seriously, I KNOW it's a lot to ask, but come on! There have been great movies like Gladiator and Black Hawk Down that are still somewhat predictable but you're not sitting there during the entire movie going, "oh, he's gonna die, this is gonna happen, that's gonna happen, blah blah blah blah blah." How about some new ideas? Instead of making tons of movies about Iraq and how the government is whack and has made some crappy decisions, how about something that no one knows a lot about. Take Braveheart, excellent movie. It's a time period that is not necessarily common knowledge, which makes it interesting. Just please give us something new for a theme or plot!
Sorry, I get a little worked up.
P.S. and also, make some more war movies that are realistic and in a different time. 300 was great, but totally special effects.

When the trailer has basically nothing to do with the movie, or when they show all 5 good scenes of the movie in the trailer. Chick Flicks where one of them dies in the end, with the exception of Up Close and Personal. We need more movies where you stand up and cheer at the end, Ghosts of Mississippi and A Time to Kill. Or that make you laugh out loud like Liar, Liar. They need to have more great dialog. Movies with lines that become famous, like "You need to ask yourself do I feel lucky? Well punk, do ya?" Not be so predictable. In the Village which I actually liked, in the beginning when they hid the red berries, I had it figured out. That was so contrived!! I mean I had the whole thing figured out! Their accents didn't help. Leave out the gratuitous sex scene PLEASE!!! And stop smoking. I don't have anything against smokers, I smoke if I go out and have a drink, but it slays me when they do it a lot in a movie. It's distracting. You should be able to take something away. Weather it's a lesson, joy, a warm fuzzy in your heart, real fear, something real. Not just a "That was a waste of 2 hours" attitude.

I want the heroes to stop going over the ledge to save the falling leading lady..cause then you see the hero holding onto the ledge with one hand and holding the girl in the other. after this feat of strength he lifts her up to safety and proceeds to climb up next. so basically i don't want to see any movies that show such unrealistic events..unless it's a movie you expect to see incredible things in, like sin city or something. a guy could jump over a building in a movie like that and it would be believable...but when it's supposed to be a "realistic" movie, move that sh*t over. no disarming the bomb with 1.2 seconds, no lone man kicking the crap out of 12 assassins (who you'd assume know there way around in a fight) and no more jean-claude van damme..that's about it for my complaining.

maybe spend a little money in stead of relying on CGI all the time. some of my favorite movies dont use a lot of computer graphics, and everything is believable and cant really be picked apart by the naked eye.

i'm just sick of everything being so predictable. in scary movies the killer may kill a few people but then somehow he usually gets caught. and then he escapes and kills more people etc etc. in romantic movies they are together, they break up, they get back together. happy ending. in action movies the good guy always ends up defeating all opponets and always wins. things need to be shaken up a bit. keep us on are toes.
