.Both were defeated and captured by Germany. France was liberated by the Allies and brought under the influence of democracy.
Poland was liberated by the USSR and brought under the influence of communism
To be "freed" is not always a cause for celebration by the liberated.Just a different set of masters

Difficult to say.
The Poles had the disadvantage of fighting on two fronts but the French inititially inflicted more casualties on the Germans and later took part in the invasion and liberation of Europe.
The French Resistance was certainly a more effective force than the Polish Home Army.
What the Poles got was 50 years of domination by the Russians but that was due to their location and the weakness of Roosevelt at the Yalta conference.

I agree with Aryeh the Poles did put up a bit more resistance than the French but they didn't or couldn't do much to help the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto who put up the best fight. The sad part is that Jews who survived the war who returned to Poland were not often welcomed back by their former friends and neighbours as they had settled into the Jews former homes with the possessions that the Nazi's hadn't taken.

Poles, and all they got fo their effort was really, freedom. they were no longer harassed by the Germans, and no longer had to help out all of the Jewish refugees fleeing to their country. Although most Poles WANTED to help the Jewish...the burden was then lifted.
