Should I say:

"Did you have a look at the closet?"
or
"Have you had a look at the closet?"

If I were you and the proper english form I would say "Have you had a look at the closet?"

Did you look in the closet?
Have you looked in the closet?
Means pretty much the same thing.
I don't know what good looking at a closet would do?

Both are good,

but I would probably say
"Have you had a look at the closet?"

I would save "Have you had a look in the closet"

Or simply "Did you look in the closet?"

you can say "Did you look into the closet"
or
"Did you take a look at the closet"

Both are technically correct, but "Have you had a look at the closet?" sounds much better.

Either one is correct. I tried to think of some subtle difference in meaning and couldn't think of any worth pointing out.

DID you ----sounds like an interrogation
HAVE you-----is a general enquiry
