.... we were so poor one year ... the repo man showed up on christmas eve to take back the christmas tree ... we had missed a few payments on it.

actually, when i was 10, we were really poor. my mom and dad pretty much gave us their posessions. so it was stuff we had around the house...it was one of the best christmases, because it let me see how much my parents loved us all...they just wanted us to be happy..i don't remember what i got, and i don't remember anyone being unhappy about getting second hand stuff..it still makes me cry.

No. I was blessed all my life. Materialism was not like it is today though and I did not get the really high priced items my kids get, but every year we got fruit and nuts in our stockings and I got a new set of those little days of the week panties. Sometimes new socks. The best part was always the food though. My mother would go all out in the cooking department.

We were so poor that we only had one Christmas card to send to all our friends and family. We would send the card and then my little brother would break in their house and take back the card so we could send it to someone else.

My sister got 7 "Days of the week panties" that were slightly soiled....I got 12 pairs of heavily soiled underwear....

A pair for January, a pair for February, a pair for........
