beta decay means a neutron splits into a proton and an electron, the latter being emitted as beta radiation. (there's also a neutrino for conservation of momentum)
Thus we move one step to the right of our periodic table and find Cl -35 which is the stable daughter of S-35 with 17 protons and 18 neutrons.

Well, let me see: sulfur-35 has 35 nucleons (protons and neutrons) and a beta particle is two protons and two neutrons so 35-4=31. The element created would be silicon-31, which does not exist. It is possible that Silicon-31 is a very short-lived species (on the order of nanoseconds) and then becomes something like phosphorus-31.
