I don't think anyone actually checks. unless your date looks 12.

if your date is under 17, most likely but you never know. last time i checked you could buy a ticket for someone under 17 if you were 21 years old. this was a few years ago but i was refused a ticket to an R rated movie even though i was 18 ( i did not look it) and had no ID. my date was 20 i think and they would not sell us the tickets. best bet is to buy the tickets alone so you dont get questioned.

Depends- on weekdays, like wednesday, the theatre will typically let the 17 year old buy the tickets and not check both ids. On fridays, though they are extra careful about who gets in and both people need to be over 17. It also varies by theatre- some are more lax than others.

R rated movies, you have to be 17 to buy tickets, if an underaged person wants to go, they have to have a 21+ year old person with them, who cares really, just but tickets for two and hand her one, no one checks =P

Your date would also have to be at least 17. Otherwise, there would have to be someone over 21 with you.

You should be able to but, if you can't, you can buy a ticket to another movie like pg-13 and instead of watching that one go and watch the R-rated movie

at the local theatre here they check when you buy the tickets, when you enter the theatre, and when you enter the actual movie, they check your id three times ... so it really depends on where you're going ... here is the solution buy a ticket to another movie and sneak in... that may be a little unethical, but it does the trick
