i was goin to go with a quad and 4 gigs and 64 bit vista but i was told not to.

Any suggestion?

and should i go with 4 gigs of ram?

That is an AWESOME AWESOME gaming computer. You will not need a new one for years to come. It won't be able to play new Direct X 10 games until they release the DirectX 9.0L that they are talking about. DX9.0L is essentially DX10 for XP; they just call it DX9 for marketing because they want people to think they're missing something if they don't get Vista. 2 gigs of RAM is fine, almost more than fine for XP. By the way whoever told you to not get Vista was a genius. The only upgrade you might make down the road for gaming is the graphics card; perhaps an 8800 GTX instead of GTS. But the GTS is still so good that by the time it is obsolete they will have released something even better and more power-efficient. Have some screamin fun.

wow... that a nice PC. The memory on the 8800 could be upped a bit, but besides that its good.

As for the 4 gigs... the PC might not be able to utilize it all (it would most likely use 3.5 rather than 4). So ur call on that one.
