I am looking to make sensory bottles for the children at my job.. (i work at a child development center).. And I am trying to figure out some creative things to put in the bottles..
......Sensory bottles are basically old water bottles that get filled up with different materials and then the top gets glued on..The children can shake the bottles and roll them around to see what happens...Some basic Ideas that I have are oil & colored water..(so they can see the color mix when its shaken) beads, so they can hear what kind of sound they make when you move it around...and glitter and water....Can anyone think of some really fun things to put in the bottles?? thanks in advance for any input. :)

When you say sensory, you're thinking of only a few types of sensation, right... the way things look and the way they feel (including when moved), plus how they might sound.

So some other things might make different sounds, be different weights, move differently with different amounts of force and angle, etc. Here are a few ideas, but I'm sure there could be many more (and each could be different if using a small amount than a larger amount):

sand/salt/sugar... aquarium gravel... rice...beans... small rocks... larger rocks... beads (small, medium or large)... pompoms (I used the sparkly ones for my son in something similar)... small tiles... metal screws, nails, nuts, etc. (long or short)

water (colored perhaps)... water and oil, as you mentioned... water and corn syrup (won't stay separate, just thicker) ...soapy water... ketchup... paints...

cotton balls... feathers (loose)...

Think of the sounds they'd make too.

Some of these sites should help generate possibilities too:
