Moms know best. If you think she is then try it out. With my second daughter we gave her things earlier then we did with our first, and she was ready. Trust yourself.

I started trying it @ 8 months...she wasn't ready. Sitting up and crawling isn't necessarily an indication that a child is ready to chew. So just proceed with caution. My girl is 9 months now and still doesn't care for stage 3, gags on it, but loves to feed herself noodles, stewed carrots chopped, and potatoes chopped. Some babies will skip stage 3 and move to table foods, since their little taste buds are becoming more discriminating.

At 6 months you should still be using stage one, and a few stage 2. It doesn't matter if she sits up and crawls it's her chewing that you should be considering. Does she have enough teeth to deal with the chunkiness of stage 3 foods? Wait a few months. Don't rush things.

I say skip stage 3! It is just a big waste of money. Chop up a bannana really small and try feeding that to her. I let my twins take the ropes. I started out with those gerber puffs that disolve and once I saw they could handle that I would cook veggies really soft and cut them up and let them feed themselves. Also fruits..just make sure they are soft and let them go to town! I swear gerber stage 3 and above only stay in buisness because us first time moms buy into their balogna! Just try the puffs and then move on from there!

It is based more on the abilities of the baby. If the food needs to be chewed or gummed then you need to make sure by testing a few small bites to see if the baby gags or is able to manuver the food without choking. My son was on the 3rd foods around 9 months.

I waited til 7-8 months to move to stage three. But I always started all my babies on regular food at 12months. Just made sure it was small enough for them to gum well enough not to choke.

Just try her on it. Usually if they can eat table food they can have stage three.
My son just went straight from 2 to whatever we were eating. That was about 7 months or so.
