I have listed a few antivirus, anti spyware and firewall applications that are available for download and are completely free: I will not get involved with the rights and wrongs of each package or its effectiveness or indeed the “This is best” or “This is crap” statements. Whatever you do, just make sure you have one of each type installed, updated and fully working:

There are quite a few contenders. One of the best is Nod32. The others are Norton Anti virus, McAfee Antivirus, Panda antivirus....etc

In my opinion the best firewall and anti virus combination is avast anti virus and zonealarm firewall.
the reasons are that both of them are easy to use and don't slow down your computer anywhere near as much as Norton anti virus, mcaffee and the other big contenders
