I feel as if maybe I'm doing something wrong. I have been watching and listening to other kids my daughters age (3yrs 4mon) talk and I feel as if she isn't even close to them I am going to get her assessed but the thing is I think some kids who are 2 and a half and older talk far better than her.
I also have a baby who is about to be 1 she doesn't communicate either my older daughter was at least saying a few words she has got nothing. She doesn't point she just started shaking her head but I don't think she knows that it means no she doesn't nod. When can I have her assessed. And what am I doing wrong?

You can have both of your children assessed at any time by a Speech- Language Pathologist that specializes in Early Intervention (birth to 3 years old). Make an appointment with your children's doctor and express your concerns. It doesn't sound like to much of a problem as some children are late talkers. Your are not doing anything wrong however there are things you can do to help facilitate langauge development in both your children and a Speech Pathologist can guide you with this. There are also many books at your local book store targeting parents. Best of luck

Some kids are late talkers. Do your kids understand everything you tell them? When you get your oldest assessed, ask about your youngest. You are not doing anything wrong. My cousin's son had apraxia where he needed speech therapy. The best thing you can do is have your girls checked so you know what you have to do next. Good luck!
