I can't walk in high heels - anything more than a tiny kitten heel really. Do you have any tips for learning how to walk in them confidently? Also, can you get lessons in walking in high shoes from a choreographer or someone like that?

I'm bridesmaid at my best friend's wedding and the dress she wants me to wear is gorgeous but falls just below the knee, so shoes will be on show. I want a nice pair but think high heels will look better - but I can't walk in them and the thought of spending the day wobbling about in shoes I'm not comfortable in, especially when walking down the aisle etc, makes me feel ill :-(

Try just walking around in them in your house for an hour a day. This will help you feel more comfy and stable in them.

Personally i would say at an occasion like this you ought to think about confidence first especially since you're walking down the aisle. I'd say buy 2 pairs of shoes.. 1 kitten - 1 high and practice walking around in the high ones - break them in at home while doing dishes... or even if you go out for a meal etc. Practice makes perfect.... even if you hire a choreographer - the most effective method is practice practice practice.... you'll get it

It's not silly at all... Believe it or not, most girls dont know how to walk in heels and many that seem to be able to dont do it right.

Get yourself a pair (make sure it fits right and all), put them on, and practice for a few hours every day in your house. Keep your back straight (balance a book on your head if you need to). Dont bend the knees or hunch over or bend backwords. Doing any of those things will give you one hell of a sore back.
Walk in front of a mirror or have a friend watch and see if you are doing something wrong.

As for "lessons":you can probably contact a modeling agency or modeling school in your area that might help you out.

Hi for the life of me I have tried wearing them all day for a few days etc and my feet just get worse.
One my wedding day I got some shoes with the tinyest heel as I wasnt going to wear ones with massive heels,
wear what you are confortable in, I know that if my feet get tired in heels my ankles give way and I cannot evens stand lol

So if you dont want to wear heels dont get some flats or ballerina shoes they will look perfect,

well you would have to start wearing little heels and work your way up. So basically once you get comfortable with a little heel then you can began wearing a heel bigger than that. But if you have no time for that then you can just wear them in the house all the time and that should also help you get comfortable in them

just wear them around your house when you're not doing anything. Practice makes perfect so the more often you are able to put them on and walk around a bit should help you. And have a backup pair of shoes in case you're still not confident by the time you have to do it.

I used to not know how to but for prom I wanted to wear some so I just kept wearing them around the house and to the store or whatever and after about a week I could walk in them like a pro.

Sorry Newbie, but being a male I have never worn high heels myself. So I am afraid I can't offer you any advice, good luck and I hope you look gorgeous for that wedding.

Try wearing a pair with wedge heels, they give you the height yet offer more stability as the heel is a larger area.
There are some beautiful one's in the stores and they are very feminine and fashionable.
Good luck.

Work on getting a lot of muscle in your legs cause' that's where you really need it when wearing high heels...they really make you take a hit on the calf.

I've been doing that since I was like 12 with my mom's highheels, just wear them around the house or where ever, a lot of fun and practice
