To the person three above me, Cam recorded a shut out last night. Anyway, I would say that it is easy to call some goalies over rated if you are simply looking at a clip of the season or even there career. The true mark of a great goalie is consistency, and while it kills me to say it, Marty Brodeur has been the poster boy for consistent great play over his entire NHL career. There are however some goalies that people simply have a hype over, in my own opinion Marc-Andre Fleury is a goalie who has the skill sets but is still inconsistent for a starter, the same can we said about Kari Lehtonen on the Thrashers.

I think anyone who is even just a backup goalie in the NHL is probably a very good goaltender.

Some may be overrated just like some skaters are overrated.
If you look at the all-star voting in the east which Huet leads among goaltenders you see one who is overrated.
He plays well initially but after he gets scored on he seems to lose concentration. Over his last 5 losses he has went on avg 29 mins into the game before giving up a goal. On average the second goal comes less than 5 Min's later.
Wait a minute the voters are on to something, if he only plays one period he will be fine.........

I think yeah maybe some might be like Fluery, Ward, but more are underrated. Some teams have a terrible Defense but the goals are reflected in the goalies stats.
(P.S, Lundqvist isn't leading for goalies? wtf!?)

some goalies are over rated espcially cam ward because he was the big talk about his shut outs and now he doesnt even play

Why would you say they're overrated? They're more athletic than most skaters. Some even have comatose resting heart rates.
