Well with my 1st contraction started naturally but after 30 hours of labour and getting no further than 8 cm i went for the epidural so they could induce me and brake my waters. With my 2nd i had to be induced for medical reasons but the contractions you feel are exactly the same as the ones you feel when you go into labour naturally but they just strat off alot stronger whereas with natural labour they start mild and get stronger. when i was induced they wouldnt let me have an epidural again as i was already 7cm when they checked me and my son was on his way! i gave birth naturally (although being induced is medication) and it hurts! it sort of feels like you going for a real big poo out ur vagina and it stings as it stretched when babies head is coming out. if you really want to do it natural (even if they do induce you it still natural birth) then practice breathing techniques or have a water birth. I was very scared when giving birth naturally but am so glad i did. but honestly, even though they bring on labour for you when your induced, they are exactly the same as when you labour naturally, just a bit quicker. All the best!

I've had 3 natural (no pain med) deliveries On pitocin, and one without pitocin.
The one without pitocin, i went into the hospital when my water was leaking, and was told I was having contrax every 2 minutes. I didn't feel them, well i felt a slight tightening but no pain. This was at 6 pm. Around 9 pm they were stronger to the point I had to move around to get comfortable, but not tear jerking painful. It was around 11:45 when the pains got really bad and I started saying I couldn't do it anymore, this was the transition phase, my son was born at 11:57 =) As his head came out it was this Huge wave of relief, kinda hard to describe the feeling. But you know how after a really good orgasm your whole body just feels like it's floating in air, so relaxed and calm? So it didn't feel like the orgasm part lol but the after effect.
lol, edited to add that is 4 natural with pitocin. my nephew told my sil today "aunt jessica is the old lady in the shoe she has so many kids she dont know what to do"........guess that's the case if i can't even remember how to count lol.

I had an epidural with my first 2 children.my 3rd was born with no pain relief and omg it hurt!!!i begged for an epidural!the contractions dont pause in the end its one continuos painfull contraction.when the baby comes down its like u have a bowling ball up your bottom.it hurt a lot.but thats just my experience.i know people who sailed through it.if i were you i would just see how it goes.there are a lot of options to think about before epidural though, water(good),gas and air(very good),tens(ok for first stage of labour),pethedine(awful).if it gets to the point where you just know you cant handle another contraction like the one before, then opt for an epidural.just go with the flow.

I can't say I was brave enough to go without pain meds. But I hated it both times. When my babies were born I caouldn't get up and hold them right away. And with my second it killed me... he had to be rushed to nicu and I couldn't go see him until I got feeling back into my legs. Which was at least 6 hours after he was born. With this baby I am going to try it.

ok ima tell u what my mother tell me b4 i do let me tell u im 18 n 22 weeks pregnant so u can jus imagine my fear but also excited to go natural. well my mother told me that God wil never put u through a pain u couldnt handle. u might think or feel like ur going to die but ur not. the pain is bearable n if u keep ur mind calm n dnt tense up then the birthing is soo0o0o much easier.

To tell you the truth, it all happened so quickly, I hardly had time to think about it. Yes, of course it hurts, but it is bearable, and once it is over, it is over. It is sort of like needing to have a bm and suddenly there is a relief of pressure and there's the baby. It is worth doing - give it a try. One of my daughters has had both of her babies at home with a midwife, and wouldn't do it any other way - she has had uncomplicated pregnancies.

I do not have kids, but my mother had two kids without medication and one with. She said it went so much faster without and there were no complications. With my brother (the one with the epidural) it took a long time and it went less smoothly. You should try to do it without, if possible. I think it's healthier. Good luck!

Honestly, the actual passing of the baby was the easiest part, episiotomy and all. The contractions were by far the worst of it, so if you can get through that, you're good to go. Good luck!
