The fastest, easiest, and cheapest way is to get the divorce paperwork from county that you live in. I'm not sure where exactly you have to go, but start by calling the courthouse. They should be able to steer you in the right direction. As long as you both agree to everything (including who pays what debts), you can fill the paperwork out yourself and submit it.

Otherwise you'll have to get a lawyer. You'll have a give them a retainer (normally a couple of thousand) before they actually do any work for you. You should be able to get a free consoltation though.

I live in Georgia and I also am divorced. When we filed for a divorce we used only one lawyer. You both have to agree on everything. It is called a noncontested divorce. We have children but they are now grown. We filed on Oct. 30, 98 and it was final on Dec. 7th. The attorney went to court for us and took care of everything for us. When it was final the divorce papers were sent to me in the mail. The divorce only cost a little over $100. We found the ad in the classifieds in our newspaper.

Go to the Clerk of Court in your county.
They can give you no fault papers to file without a lawyer.

Try the county court house. They should have papers that you fill out, but it does cost you to file them. But nowhere near what a lawyer would cost. You're still going to go in front of a judge too.

Called the local court. Tell them you have an uncontested pro se divorce (Pro Se = you are representing yourself)
