I liked #7! I had a friend who started to lose interest as the series went on, because she loved the world, and we did so many fanfics, that she started to prefer those, and really didn't care all that much. I told her a little bit about it, but other than that she really didn't care. She thought she introduced too much "new stuff", which I can kind of agree with.
But still, with a couple small exceptions, I did really enjoy the book. It certainly kept you moving, the style was so different, owing to the three main characters no longer being restricted to primarily school grounds.. and there was a lot of interesting information in it.
I think what I liked most about it was the scenes you didn't expect.. for instance -
*SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ ANSWER FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BOOK 7*
*Dobby's death scene was amazing.. I bawled my head off.
*I was VERY impressed with the turnaround they experienced with Kreacher, once they started treating him well.
*I expected, but was quite happy, with Snape's stance in the end. It was pretty much what I was hoping for, although I would have preferred his exit be a bit more.. well.. dramatic. He was one of my favorite characters.
*I was kind of sad, but at the same time, felt it was kind of accurate, that the Malfoys, and especially Draco, stayed kind of neutral though the whole thing. I like the way they had the family start to really draw back in this one because they realized what it was starting to cost them. Very self-concerned, as is in character for the Malfoys. They support.. the Malfoys.
*Adding to that, the scene with Narcissa at the end, where she covered for Harry's supposed death because he told her what happened to Draco really impressed me. It was EXCELLENT, in my opinion.
A couple small points that bothered me:
*The way that holding on to the horocrux, and switching it between the three of them because of the effect it had, was a bit "One Ring-ish", if you know what I mean. It got a little.. redundant. Much like Frodo in LotR (which hey, kind of got on my nerves there, to be fair. It just went on, in both, for sooooo long).
*I have to agree with my friend.. it did introduce a lot of new info, which kind of made you feel like your head had exploded.
*I was a little sad that the whole Sirius thing stayed the way it was. I mean, I didn't expect him to come back, but that whole "through the mirror" thing back in OotP still felt so.. incomplete. Of course, I suppose that was kind of the point.
*The ending seemed a bit.. just a bit.. Brady Bunch. I mean, we kind of figured that Harry married Ginny and Ron married Hermione, and they had kids, and everyone was happy. Neat. And I did like the little touch with Harry and Draco. But it felt a little.. forced. Like not quite the right note to end on.
I'm sure there's more I could add to both lists, but overall, I felt it was a solid ending to the series. However, it's not really my favorite of the whole thing.
Was that too long of an answer to a short question? *laugh*

I absolutley positively LOVED Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and hate everyone who hates it. It was so amazingly wonderful! The saddest parts to me were the deaths of Dobby and Fred Weasley. And I was so surprised when Dudley was actually nice to Harry. It was so awesome!! I can't get over how all the little details in the seven (SEVEN!) books fit so perfectly together. Neville was my favorite, he changed so much and grew up. And Snape!! What can I say? Snape was just so ---I don't know. Excuse my lack of descriptive words. And of course Hermione was a genius, Rita Skeeter and Muriel were monstrous, and Dumbledore was his old self. But Aberforth was good. And Harry was so brave.
I also thought it was the best bok of all. Then the Prisoner of Azkaban.
It was an amazing book that I can't wait to own. We had to wait a month on the hold list at the library before we got it.

It was quite good, an excellent ending to the series save for the epilogue. That's the one part of it I didn't really care for as much. It felt a little too rushed, like Rowling had originally planned more for it but had to cut it far short.

I liked it as I am a huge fan of all the HP books but after all the excitement before DH came out, I was expecting it to be AMAZING but unfortunately it wasn't. But then maybe I just need to read it a few more times! =)

that's because it was horrible. the epilogue is what ruined it. it just didn't give enough closer. we didnt really find out anything about Harry's parents, we didnt find out what Harry, Ron and Hermione ended up doing for a living, we didn't find out what happened as far as the Ministry of Magic is concerned (who was the next Prime Minister {some say it was that black guy with the robes i cant think of his name but it said that he wasnt permanent, just a step in}), we didn't find out what happened with anyone immediately after Voldemort died. it all just sort of ended and then jumped ahead 19 years. it was just crappy.

I didn't really like it when I first read it because I felt that the beginning was excellent, as was the end, but the middle dragged on.
But it has grown on me, and now it is one of my all-time favorites! I love the character development (Neville!!!).

It was super great.
I can't believe that so many people think that it was awful.
I mean, the writing style wasn't that different from the other books.

I'm totally addicted to it. My friends told me that I'm just wasting my money but I don't care. I save half of my allowance so that I can buy HP merchandise.
