Genetics determine eye color. From each parent, you get 1 gene for eye color, which may be either dominant or recessive. If you get 1 dominant and 1 recessive gene, you end up with eyes the color of the dominant gene. If you get two recessive genes of the same color, you get that color eye. If you get either 2 dominant or 2 recessive of different colors, it's a toss up which is influenced by other factors...
You, apparently, got two recessive blue eye genes - 1 from each parent. Since you have only blue eye genes, you will automatically pass on a 'blue' gene to your child. Your wife must have a blue eye gene as well, which she passed on. If you choose to have more children, the possibilities for eye color are still 50/50 on brown eyes or blue!

My eyes are blue too! And I am Naturally blond as well...
It could be genes, it could be great extended family genes (some others in your family could have blue eyes, no matter how related they are to you, genes come from everyone your blood related to, not just your parents) and it could be luck... :o) Ha! Mine are brought up by genes, dads side of the family, almost everyone has green or blue eyes, only a few brown eyes. I also call it luck, cause I love my blue eyes. :o)
Happy Holidays!

Because your mom had the (i believe) recessive blue eyed gene and your father did as well so when they came together you got blue eyes.
Even if your parents both have, say, brown eyes, if they had the blue-eye gene within them, even if it doesn't show up for them, it can be passed on to you.

Both of your parents had to contribute a blue gene to you since it's a recessive trait. That doesn't mean that your parents have to have blue eyes though. They can have a blue recessive and brown or green dominant.

either both your parents have blue eyes, one of your parents has 2genes for blue eyes (they have blue eyes)and your other parent has 1 gene for blue eyes (their eyes are a different colour) or both your parents have non blue eyes but carry the gene for blue eyes

'Cause you're lucky.
I heard during high school that blue and green eyes are actually a genetic MUTATION!!
But I personally wouldn't care less, I'd be a cute mutant with blue eyes.

Genetically your recessive and therefore have different pigmentation of the iris. You inherited a recessive form and so have blue eyes. I inherited the dominant form from my mum and my eyes are dark brown. lolz
