Maryland!!!!! I live in Maryland and absolutely love it here. It's nickname is "Mini America" because it has a little bit of all the different parts of America in it. It has the mountains, the countryside, the beaches, the cities, everything. It also goes through a constant cycle of the seasons, if you like to experience all kinds of weather. Maryland may be small but it is a beautiful and fun place to live.

It all depends on what you like. Do you like hot summers and cold winters? Do you like hot summer and warm winters? Do you like rain? Do you like to be near the ocean or do you like the mountains better? Do you like the desert or would you like the forest better? The United States has a bit of everything so you need to think about what climate you like best. Then there are cultural considerations - like the Bible Belt Southern states, the high-tech West Coast, the Spanish influence in the Southwest, the hustle/bustle of the Northeast or the conservative Mid-West.
I prefer the forest, the rain, the warm summers and the liberal culture of the Pacific Northwest.

I was born and raised in Texas,I don't like the constant heat and humidity, so I moved to Portland(Gresham) Oregon,I love the weather,the views of Mt.Hood,the beach,I loved being able to go out at all hours for whatever I desired.I just dont like to deal with people and there was to many people.I have lived in Illinois(Chicago,Rockford) but the winters are to much for me.So I moved back to Texas and one day will move again.

arkansas has the best value for real estate/beauty/climate, but doesnt have alot to offer for cities/cultural diversity. I have lived all over this country and have settled on Chicago because I like city life but cant afford to live in NY. The northwest is really nice too, I lived in Portland for a while but jobs are scarce there. If weather is important to you, and unlike me you actually like sunny, warm days, california is nice but expensive and maybe a little hippy dippy/pretentious for me culture wise.

This depends on what kind of work you do and what kind of climate you like. I've lived in Indiana, Michigan and Florida but have now been in Tennessee for twenty-five years. I had a great career; am now retired and enjoying the beauty of the land. It's a great place to be. I'm here and I'm staying!!!

Seems like a couple of people have said the Oregon / Washington area is pretty good.
Alaska is a state that could be expected to warm up most with Global Warming.

Ohio! Living expenses are not high like it would be cheaper than living out in CA or on the East Coast. Plus you get the best of both worlds...you have bigger cities like Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, and there are smaller neighborhoods and nice scenic areas. And there are major sports teams. Good shopping and food.
...or somewhere in the midwest. :)
