I love acoustic music. Led Zeppelin's acoustic stuff is probably my favorite, probably because John Paul Jones is jamming away at a mandolin. It really blends together quite beautifully.
Bron-Yr-Aur, Going to California, and That's The Way are all beautiful acoustic pieces from Zeppelin.
I also really fancy this acoustic song from the "deflowering William" scene from Almost Famous. It's called Lucky Trumble and it's composed by Nancy Wilson (yeah, the Wilson chick from Heart but I'm sure you know of her)
If you haven't heard that song and you're a fan of acoustics, try it out.

So.... you *knew* I was going to say Nick Drake!

Well, I'd better add some variety, though none of these have done a full acoustic album {as far as I know} :~

You're Crazy ~ Guns N' Roses
Bron-Yr-Aur ~ Led Zeppelin
Fire at Midnight ~ Jethro Tull
Say Goodbye ~ Eva Cassidy
Wish You Were Here ~ Pink Floyd
Where Do You Think You're Going ~ Dire Straits
Scarborough Fair ~ Simon and Garfunkel
Seven Black Roses ~ John Martyn
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes ~ Crosby Stills & Nash

I like listening to acoustic songs every once and a while or when I'm feeling down. I mean, you can't be a headbanger 24/7, think about all the headaches! Sometimes you need to sit back and just enjoy music from a wooden guitar. G N' R Lies is great (I'm a big GN'R fan). "Patience", "Used to Love Her", and "You're Crazy" are my favorites. My favorite acoustic album has to be Unplugged with Nirvana, the emotion from Kurt's performance was haunting and bone chilling. Songs like "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?", "Lake of Fire", and "Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam" were are all covers but proof that the band was able to transcend the grunge sound they were commonly associated with.

Ha.... Porcupine Tree does do some amazing acoustic stuff. But I was randomly flipping through youtube and they had this Whitesnake unplugged and it was AMAZING. I loved it more than regular Whitesnake, David Coverdale's voice really comes through.
And I listen to to some indie artists (Iron and Wine, Jeffrey Lewis, Kings of Convenience) that are mainly acoustic anyway, it's all very lovely. Shows that you really don't have to makes music comples for it to work.

I really enjoy Godsmack's acoustic EP. Probably more than most of their regular stuff. As far as Punk going Acoustic:
Flogging Molly did it. I liked it, but it's not the same. I think if any band could pull it off, it would be Tiger Army.

I don't love acoustic...but sometimes it is okay. I really have to be in the mood for it. One of my favorite bands Godsmack did an acoustic EP "The Other Side" and it is pretty good.

Kiss' Unplugged performance is one of my favorite albums from them. Aerosmith also had a fabulous Unplugged set.

My compadre Danny Vaughn has released an EP of acoustic tunes and has done three tours now with no backing band, just him and hs guitar.

NP: "Don't Fade Away" - Whitesnake

I love all forms and genres of music... which includes acoustic... in my humble opinion, if a song is good... then it's good.

I love both versions of 'You're Crazy' by GNR, but I think I lean towards the acoustic version.
