My cousin was talking about buying a older g4 mac computer and then upgrading the processor. I don't know any other specs about the current one. Is it possible to buy a used -or new- processor and then manually switch from your current one? If so, do you know how to do it?

You could buy a faster processor and install it into the Mac, but there is a limit on the range of processors that the model will support.

Make sure you do signifcant research as to what processors that model supports before you spend money on a new processor.

Yes, just find out which socket or slot it is. Then unscrew or lossen the cpu cooler. Then pull it off. You might be to use a little force because of the thermal compund that is on it. Pop in the new one along with new thermal compund ontop. Then attach the cpu cooler and your good to go. Make sure you check the bios to see if the cpu is running at a cool speed

Not recommanded to do, Power Macs have no upgrade path like PCs do.
