you have to buy someone a present and they don't know who it's from. Everyone puts their names into at hat and whoever you pick out you have to buy for.

In my work they run a Secret Santa. Everyone pulls another colleagues name out of a hat and buys that person a present.
Normally to the value of about £5. Gosh it can be a bit crazy.

we do this every christmas at work, agree on a limit to spend, put everyones name in a hat, then get everyone to pick one, buy them a pressie, everyone puts the pressies into a sack, go on our night out, at our meal pressies are handed out with love from your secret santa,

a secret santa is when you pick a name out of a hat and you have to buy a present signed "your secret santa" the person you gave it to has to guess who their secret santa is.

normally in a workplace. everyones name is written on pieces of paper and closed and then put into a bowl/hat and everyone picks out a name and buys a present for the person they picked. you can't tell anyone who you picked. and then you give your present. that way everyone gets a present :)
