the smell of my husband's armpits!!
I wash his t-shirts and shirts on a 40 degree cycle with washing powder, stain remover and fabric conditioner but there is still a whiff of his armpits coming through when I iron them!
Any ideas?

Try washing load with baking soda. Or use vinegar in the load. I use these to get rid of the musty smell in the washer. Worth a try.

I keep a spray bottle filled with white ammonia in my laundry room for such problems. It's called "white" ammonia, but it is actually clear and is very inexpensive. Spray the area well enough to saturate it with the ammonia, then let it sit for an hour or two. Then wash as usual. It should work.
By the way, I have found that this ammonia spray method works better than most stain removing products and will not harm any washable fabrics.
Good luck. I hope this helps.

Try this:
Make a paste of water and baking soda. Then rub the paste in to the smelly spots on the shirt and then wash as usual.
That usualy works for me.

Well, if the fabric can take it, which tshirts generally can, use the hot water setting. Also detergent with baking soda is good. And get him to try doeoderant that is clinical strength. It's available OTC, and this may help to prevent the problem before it becomes one!

Once a month wash them on a higher temperature, 60 degrees, if the label says it's OK. Use biological detergent every time. Plus get him to use antiperspirant.

Fabreez. The micro-capsules soak up the smell, then when you wash the garment the micro-capsules are washed away and take the smell with it. So Fabreez first, then wash. Also try a hotter wash (60 degrees).
