1, The mormon bible IS the king james version.

2. They don't believe that Jesus was born in Latin America. They believe that Jesus visited latin America after the other side of the world, and they believe that was what Jesus meant when in the bible he said he had other flocks to tend.

3. No, they don't believe the garden of eden was in missiouri.

Their core believe is that the bible documents what Jesus did in the middle east, and the book of mormon is what he did later on in the Americas.

Basically, the way that Mormon's differ from other Christians is that they believe Jesus came to the Americas to save the people that lived her, because there was no other way for them to hear the word of God.

If you are going to bash a religion, you should learn about it first.

We believe the Bible to be the word of God. It is viewed as scripture in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Where a problem happens is in the translations of the Bible. There are several hundred translations, and with literary work that is translated that many times, some of the original meaning can be subject to alternations, changes, etc. If you compare the original Hebrew and then Greek translations with many modern day English ones, you can obvious see changes that have occurred. Mormons feel that some errors have occurred over the centuries where some doctrine has been omitted, and some added. An example is found in Amos 7:3 The current KJV reads: "The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD." The Lord is perfect. He has no need for repentence. Another example is the differences of what happened to Judas after he betrayed Jesus. Matthew says Judas want out and hanged himself. But in Acts it says Judas fell down and his bowells came out. Matthew 27: 3 ¶ Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. Acts 1:18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. Obviously there have been changes as there are two differing descriptions of what happened to Judas. Mormons believe the Bible to be true. Its just that there are errors. That is why we believe the Book of Mormon is necessary. To help clarify misinterpretations. To know about Joseph Smiths prayer to God and his visitation to Joseph, why not ask God himself if it were true. God teaches us in the Bible, if we lack wisdom about something, to ask him (See James 1:5). If we do so with real intent, and in humility, God will answer that prayer. I have done so, and have received a "witness" that it did indeed happen as Joseph testified.

The real question is should we have a president who believes every word of a clearly metaphorical book

Actually - He denied believing in EVERY word literally...

He said "some things are metaphorical"....

Which doesn't earn him any points with his base but everybody else finds it reasonable....

I still think he's a liar though...

AND.... I will NOT be told by a Mormon who I have the right to get married to....
Mormons did not accept Black members into their church until 1973... and there are about 4000 fundamentalists that still practice polygamy...

This is why Romney needs to explain his religion. Questions like yours continue to be evidence that there is a LOT of ignorance out there.
