i asked a question on here yesterday and most people
said do go to the doctor, so i did ....
and they said my cervix is thinning, which is the step
before dialation.... of course...

ive already had preterm labor issues
w/ my pregnancy in the past
and i know if she's born now then she will live...

i was just wondering when i should expect labor
being this far effaced, and having past problems...
and how long any one else went after their cervix
started to thin out....

also- should my doctor have put me on bedrest?
my doctor is rude and i wanted to change,
but no one will take me now...
it doesn't seem like he cares to much...
so should i put myself on bedrest?

and also should i not have sex either?
will it cause problems??

thank you all in advance...

You should probably be taking it easy mentally and physically from now on. You did the right thing in going to consult your doctor - you needed reassurance, but I'm not sure you feel any better now that you have. Although your baby should live it it arrives early there are no guarantees, he/she is unlikely to be able to leave hospital with you until term dates have been achieved. Prem babies can have under-developed lungs and you may have already been given a steroid injection to assist in development, or they may have you down for that later on. Do you know?
I would avoid anything stressful or too much activity of any sort to prolong your pregnancy and give your baby a better chance. I would avoid sex, because it can bring labour on, and if you are worried about that, then don't risk for the moment. If your doctor did not put you on bedrest, then he probably doesn't think the situation is as problematic as you do. Remember, they see many pregnant women, all expect their pregnancies to be treated as the most important, when to the doctor it is pretty routine. What do you mean "my doctor is rude" what did they say?

Is your dr. a man??? Because it sounds like whoever it is has know Idea what you are going through in the least. 1st of all, you should probably consult a different Dr. because from everything I've studie it looks like effacement is the body's way of preparing itself for labor. Sometimes dialation comes first and other times effacement comes first but the bottom line is that your body is preparing to have a baby and it's still very early. What I would do is lay off the sex and rest up in bed until you get a proper diagnoses from a doctor who cares a liitle bit more. Good luck and I'll be praying for you and the little one!

usually dialation and effacement go hand in hand, be thankful if you havent started to dialate yet.
Being effaced is a huge step although you could be at a cetain % for a while-weeks or you could fully efface and dialate in days.
I think you should put yourself on bedrest, walking just speeds things up, it makes you baby sit lower which puts pressure on the cervix causing effacement and dialation to occur.
sex would be a big no no! semen contains stuff that helps thin the cervix only when the body is ready to go and sounds like yours is telling it to thin. so I would avoid sex!

good luck. hope you can keep that baby in a little longer

I am not a doctor but the father of a 24 week baby. Believe me you do not want that baby to have to fight yet. I would advise as much bed rest as possible to prolong labor every week, day, hour, and minute possible. Sex should definitely be out as the enzymes in seamen can enhance the process of labor. You are hopefully many weeks from labor but I would do everything possible to help that. My prayers for you.

first of all if you don't like your doctor do switch i mean your baby life in his hands do put your self on bedrest to much activity isn't good while on bedrest look for a doctor someone will have to take you i would say don't have sex your body might be too weak to handle causing you to dialte my sisterinlaw has been dialed 2cm for 2 weeks and she does everything but shes 9months so i don't know if it will stay closed

I would suggest no having sex. My Dr, told me to have sex to start labor when I was getting close to being past due. Also, I think you should take things easy. Maybe not 100% bedrest but definitely take it easy. Rude doctors suck :*(

I would do bed rest and no sex.The longer you can carry this baby the better. If your water should break then you will need to get to the hospital where they can will be able to take care of a preemie.Once your water breaks there is not a choice on waiting, infection can sit in after so long. Good luck and I will be praying for you and your baby also.

Sorry I don't have in answer for you but I am in a similar situation as you and was wondering what your first question was and how you got the doctor to check you? I couldn't find it.
