I have a Mac and am trying to make a trifold brochure for my business using Word. I just can't seem to get it right. Any help out there?

I did attempt to just add my own info into the template, but they have a snowflake watermark on the sample that I cannot get to go away. Ideas?

Are you using Appleworks? There should be a template. Ditto for Word. Just substitute your own stuff into the template.

If there is a write protected watermark on it, then, it is probably not a template, but a sample that someone does not want you to copy.

Better to design your own layout.

While Word would not be my choice of application, it can, still, be done. First, layout what your brocure would look like on an ordinary piece of paper. Just fold it in three, and pencil in the blocks of color and text about where you'd like it. Then unfold it. This is called a "dummy" in the graphics industry.

In Word, set up your page in "landscape" format. Set it for three colums and set the margins and "gutter" spacing. (the gutter is the COMBINED margins between the center section and each of the two side sections. ie: a half inch margin around each section means a full, one inch gutter between each section. The fold goes down the middle of the gutter)

Layout each "page" or section within each gutter. You'll have to know how to "insert" graphics and create tables of color sections.

Other possiblilites may include that you may want in interior fold out so that text and grapics spread across two or more sections. Word should have that capability. Look around to see if you can have columns of different sizes.

It is so much more simple to do this in other, dedicated page layout applications, like InDesign, QuarkXpress and Pagemaker.

If you have Microsoft Worls on your Mac, then you should have some pretty good brochure templates available. These should allow you the freedom to add, remove and change the elements of the templates to make them more personal, and unique.
