Hi everyone, I am four weeks pregnant and I just found out today that my blood work confirmed my feelings of me being pregnant. I havent gone to the doctor and i need to find one soon. Does anybody recomend a good doctor or an OB that would do a great job troughout my pregnancy? I live in burbank, but work most of the time by rush hospital. please help.

Congrats! My best suggestion is to ask a friend or family member who has recently had a baby who their doctor was. That's how I found my doctor (I was new to the area and had my husband ask his coworker's pregnant wife!). I would also suggest, even if you are going to get a midwife, a hospital delivery is safest. I had a completely normal and healthy pregnancy and delivery. However I ended up in emergency surgery after delivery because of an inverted uterus (my uterus tried to follow my son out!) and if I had not been at a hospital I could have bled out before I got to one. You never know what can happen. Best of luck!

I worked backwards. I decided what kind of birth experience I wanted and found a midwife that would support me. She is part of a medical group and only handles low risk pregnancies and will hand me over to an obgyn in the group if there are complications but I am hoping for the best. I want a hospital birth with as little medical intervention is safe safe. I also want a water birth which is hard to find in a hospital. This is also my first pregnancy so I wanted someone that didn't mind taking the time at appointments to make sure all of my questions were answered and would make me as comfortable as possible. Once I found someone willing to help me meet my goals I made an appointment and feel pretty good about it, she's been great.

UIC, right near Rush, is wonderful! The nurses are attentive and friendly and the doctors are knowledgable.

If I were you, I would look for a birth center. Do research on the Bradley method. I have used it four times and it really works.

most doctors wont see you intil you're about 8 weeks so you still have time to look- go to some and ask if you can see their facilties or even have a tour- ask what they offer and do your research- see what kind or type or care you want andd ask what is common in their practice
