Why is it the only time you ever hear the word 'figment' it's in relation to the imagination?

Aren't there any other kinds of figments?

I had the eye doctor say something about figment once and it kinda freaked me out.

Pretty funny - I think you're right. I don't know of any other figments. There must be some kind of list or category of words used only in a particular expression and no other way.
