The chickens, pigs, cows don't get trained in cruel fashion to have a fight in which they get torn apart.
If you think dog-fighting is good, then you should participate in the pit, not ouside it.

Dogs being raised just for entertainment. Doesn't that violate the idea of "man's best friend?" Dog fighting and eating meat is a question or morality. I guess? Why compare? Sorry, beef is GOOD in must cases, but don't see a dog like cattle, pigs, or chickens. Also, are we not trying to slay animals used a nourishment in the must humane way? It just what are morals are. Dog fighting as entertainment isn't that to us, but one can still enjoy what a slaughterhouse brings because we can accept that. I guess the logic is how we care, for the must part, how are food is brought to us. We care that we are provided with meat that's killed in a humane way. Sorry, for repeating myself.

We eat meat raised from the farm for the sole purpose of selling them to consumers. Pets like dogs, cats etc. is totally different story.
I do feel bad eating meat, really do(I only eat beef and pork).. But I need to sustain my physical body with balanced diet.
I totally see your point of view.. I care for all animals, especially those in the wild. BUt i can be more linient to eat something from the farm, raised by people with a little bit of help of science(see how science make hens lay more eggs? or cows to grow within 6 months?) They weren't naturally raised by mother nature, or that not even of God's creation because of the interference of science, so i can say, i can at least be not too guilty eating these meats..
I never thought there is so-called dog-fighting. That is cruel. I dont see any point of comparison between survival and entertainment. Anyone, cruel or not, will eat meat without any emotions involved but the sound of the hungry stomach.. Anyone watching a dog-fighting for entertainment, is more of a twisted story-that falls on the emotional side of the psyche. Who knows if the person watching, for sure, is cruel? maybe he has no emotions at all, that is why they can stand watching the fight..Or master sadists..
Caring for animals is subjective, or involving individual preferences..One can love a dog, and yet hate a skunk.. can you see the reason why there is bias?

Do you eat the dog to survive? NO!! The only reason people eat cows and such are to get certain proteins that meat can give you and to survive! and yes we could eat such things as lettuce and get by, but you would need protein and other things the meat gives you or Veg take vitamins instead I guess. There is really no thinking to this question! Survive or Entertainment there's not a relation

In the US and plenty of other countries, yes dogs are viewed as being worth more than say a cow or chicken. We, as humans, seek the comfort of a dog as a pet, so tend to give them more human qualities than we do most other animals, but that is not really the reason that dog fighting is viewed as cruel. Most of the dogs used in dog fighting are raised solely for that purpose and are tortured and beaten to the point that they are vicious and mean. They learn to have a hatred for not only other dogs but also humans, because of the way they are treated. When fighting, they often times fight to the death or the losing dog is so mangled they cannot be saved. They are not killed for their meat value, but purely for sport and enjoyment, if one can actually call it that. On the other hand, animals raised for consumption are, on the most part, fed well and raised in a better environment. Plus, they are humanely slaughtered and do not suffer a prolonged death. Nor do we pit them against each other to see which one is more worthy of living or becoming hamburger.
Okay, yes humans can definitely survive without eating any meat, the vegetarian culture has proved that fact. But, being vegetarian is not a global culture, there are tons of cultures that have meat as a staple part of their diet. Humans have hunted animals for thousands of years, getting meat out of our diets is definitely a long way off if ever. Slaughtering animals for food consumption is not a modern concept, look at the pioneers and how they lived. They slaughtered and ate the pig they raised in their backyard. But again, this is not comparable to dog fighting. The pig or steer was slaughtered as humanely as possible and not pitted against another animal to determine which one survived and the remaining carcus is actually used for consumption (and in most cases the whole carcus is utilized, not just part of it). Is it moral to kill animals for consumption? Probably not if you view them as being your equal, but that is not an ideal that is widely accepted in society and I am probably safe to say it never will be.

Well, image a dog has in the media in most countries. We consider them our best friends, protectors, and companions.. Would you eat your friend?
Two, we don't watch cows fight to the death. If we saw pigs and cows fight to the death brutally, maybe we wouldn't eat them.. That's not the case though. And by the way, cock fights are considered cruel too.
In the end, it's not that dogs are better animals, but that we have a different, more human image of them. And, it's not that we don't want to eat them (some countries do), but it's that we don't want to watch them fight.
If you like dog fighting, many countries have legalized and regulated it. Russian being cheif.

Ok then, if you were a dog, how would you like to have your ears snipped off, your tail cut off, all your feedom taken away from you being penned up all day, trained to kill, abused, then forced to fight for your life with other dogs, and for the amusement of other people.... hmmm. that sounds pretty messed up if you ask me!
Cows, chicken, and pigs are not treated as cruely and inhumanely as these poor dogs subjected to fighting other dogs are. Your not understanding that eating a (well taken care of) cow, etc, is different than throwing an abused dog into a pen to attack some other inncoent dog, just so that you can sit and watch them attack each other, resulting in the death of one of the dogs... no animal deserves that kind of treatment, not one!

Who is even talking about this anymore? Obama ate dog in a country that serves dog. Some cultures hold cows sacred and find it disgusting that we eat tons of beef every day. It's just a cultural thing. I (accidentally) ate horse in a country that regularly eats horse. It wasn't very good, kind of gamey. I felt bad about it. My guide told me, "Horses are very useful animals." Lol. As for tying a dog to the roof of his car - that's the least of my worries. It's just one of those stupid immature slanders that always comes out in campaigns. They're always there for every candidate.

many people do exhibit an emotional connection to dogs that they do not exhibit for other creatures; that may be one of the most significant differences. and for a long while in human history, eating meat was necessary for survival. however, in our modern society, we understand what nutrients we need, and how to attain them from non-animal sources.
unfortunately, consumer demand and the entrenchedness of the meat-producing industries will be very hard to overcome in one fell swoop. consumers are probably going to be the deciding factor, and eating meat probably won't go out of style for a long, long time.
but while a few people enjoy dog fighting for entertainment, it's not widely legalized, and there are several people who will come to persecute those who participate.
I'm on your wavelength here, just saying the economics of the day offer some determining factors to our "ethics"

Dog fighting tortures the dog. It is a prolonged and painful death. Dogs that are trained for dog fighting live a very brutal and painful existance, being tortured in order to "toughen them up".
Cows are killed quickly and as painlessly as possible, as are chickens and pigs and any other animals used for meat (including in some parts of the world, dog). About the only thing that I can even see anyone drawing any parallels here is Veal. One can (and many have) draw parallels to bull fighting, as it tortures the bull.
If you torture your cows, pigs, chickens, horses, etc. you will go to jail for that too (as it should be).
