Hi I have a question. I have a network in a hotel. The hotel internet is connected through a router. All users can access the internet. Another network we have a check in system. Its a simple windows xp computer installed check inn software on it. The three other computer share the installed check inn software file from this computer. Every thing is smooth and fine. The hotel management need internet on the computer which shares check inn file. Whenever I connect these computes to internet they work fine for some hours. then they start giving Exception c000006 or I/O error or run time error. I tried static Ip for computer DHCP I turned fire wall off but the problem is not solved. please if some body can help me. I will be very grateful.

Check the event viewer for any errors, the FW is their for a reason, you should keep it on. Are you users customers ? Their machines could be carrying any sort of viruses, trojans etc. I would make sure your 3 pc's have up to date virus software on them and see if they pick anything up. Alternatively, are the 3 pc's running any other protocols such as IPX/ SPX, there could be a broadcast storm going on crippling your network.

Check the network cards in the device manager application to make sure the power option is not set so that the computer can shut it off. Not sure if this well help, this problem thou, has caused that to happen on a system before. Most programs don't know how to handle it when the network card all of a sudden goes off on them, lol.....
