He could have roseola (high fever for a few days followed by a rash that tends to start when the fever breaks). This is a common childhood illness and generally nothing to worry about. If you want confirmation from your doctor, then by all means make an appt.

exact same thing happened to my baby. he had a high fever for a few days we took him to the doctor they said it was just a virus. well a few days later he had red blotches all over! we took him back to the doctor and they said it was the E.C.H.O. virus. when the virus is clearing up it causes red blotches.
if you want you can take him to the pediatrician. make sure you keep the skin moisturized. the red blotches will dry up.

Most likely diagnosis is roseola. Rash appears after fever resolves. A few days of fussiness is normal. You should be able to feel a few lymph nodes on the back of his skull behind his ears. (Look up sub-occipital nodes if you want to be certain of the location.)

scarletina. My son has had it many times. Take him to a dr to be sure but it will go away in a few days, they usually prescribe my son antibiotics because it usually occurs with strep throat even though they are not supposed to get strep throat so early my son has had it three times. Most likely my son will have his tonsils removed within the next year. Good luck it looks awful but it goes away in a few days. Definetely get to a dr.

Take your son to the hospital, don't wait for answers from people on here when his health is an issue. This is a question for a physician...not random people on Yahoo! Answers.

Sounds like a heat rash. My girls used to get them. I personally do not see the need to take the child to the doctor unless it gets worse.
